About Me

Like all women, I wear many hats -- wife, mother, friend, daughter, sister, student, client, professional, overall concerned-for-our world human. The common thread throughout has been my curiosity about what makes me “tick.” What are the beliefs -- conscious or otherwise -- that inform how I am in my life? Where did those beliefs come from? What patterns keep me stuck? Which ones keep me going? What gives me pleasure and what do I value? How can I live my life pro-actively from a context of what I value instead of only reacting to situations and what’s immediately in front of me (and there is plenty to always react to! Good grief!). Another common thread is the theme of loss and the associated grief. It is often said that to live and love is to also lose. Whether the losses we experience are the typical changes in life — aging, moving, the loss of a loved one, or growing through the milestones with our children — or, the less obvious types of loss — relationship loss and/or betrayal, chronic health conditions, job loss, financial upheaval, infertility, miscarriage — to live life is to experience loss. How do we process that grief? I believe we first have to name what we have lost and the healing begins there. We don’t have to “get over” what we lost, but if we can figure out how to create space within ourselves for the loss, maybe we can see our way to embracing our life as it is, taking action when necessary, and making room for ourselves to be exactly how we are, and how we are not.

I know none of us can do any of this alone, and that is why I am here — to witness the losses, hold space for the feelings, and validate the experiences at the heart of our lives.

My Background

Before getting my certification as a Peer-to-Peer Grief Educator with David Kessler, I had been a professional hands-on energy practitioner off and on for the past 16 years. Even when it was technically an off time when I home-schooled my son for 3 years, I discovered that being mindful of my energy system, and in particular that of my son’s, was an essential ingredient even if it wasn’t what I was doing professionally. Before becoming a mom and wife, I enjoyed two different careers -- one in management and self-development, working for a company that offered weekend courses and seminars, and one in an art and house museum as an education coordinator in charge of developing curriculum, leading tours, and training tour guides. The role of guide and advocate for myself and others has always been a part of what I do and is an integral part of what I offer to my clients.

In hindsight, I can see that studying and graduating from both David Kessler’s Grief Educator Program and the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, have each been a way for all of my interests to come together -- creativity, emotional growth, and energy dynamics — all under the umbrella of healing from loss.
